What is Winterization?

Winterization is preparing your property for the cold winter months where freezing temperatures could result in costly damages to your property. Frozen pipes can burst costing thousands of dollars in water damage and restoration fees. If a property is going to be left vacant for a period of time you will want to highly consider winterizing the property to ensure that the property will we be well preserved through out the winter. It is also becoming more common for home inspectors to want to know if the property has been properly winterized. They want to know that the property does not have any leaking pipes that could be missed in an inspection. If the home has been properly winterized it helps assure the pipes are in good working order relieving stress from potential homebuyers. We work with homeowners, realtors, brokers, and mortgage companies to winterize their properties.

  • Turning off all water lines
  • Drain the water lines
  • Drain waste lines
  • Drain traps under tubs, showers, and sinks
  • Set thermostat
  • Post signs notifying that winterization has been done.
